FAQ: Why doesn't the MIDI Rocker (or LX) work directly
with the Xbox 360?
On the Xbox 360, Microsoft requires any controller to have a special license
and encryption chip in order to operate with the console. Currently these
licenses are only available to a small number of companies and are not
available to small independent developers. For this reason, to use the MIDI
Rocker with an Xbox requires connecting the MIDI Rocker to an existing Xbox
Rock Band drum controller by soldering some wires to the Xbox drum controller.
This modification can be done in such a way that the drum controller can still
be used normally (without the MIDI Rocker). The controller modifications are
described here.
