MIDI Rocker LX Release Notes and Version History
Release 2010.5.24 (24 May 2010)
This release contains new software, User's Manual, and
firmware for the MIDI Rocker LX.
- Added "waterfall" display. The Drum
Test page now includes a "waterfall" display (similar to the
scrolling note charts in Guitar Hero or Rock Band) which lets you see which
notes are activated when you hit a pad or press a pedal on your drums.
- Added support for Hi Hat Pedal Threshold setting.
The settings page now includes the Hi Hat Pedal Threshold. When enabled, this
lets you set the pedal position for when a Hi Hat Open note (26 or 46) should
be converted to a Hi Hat Closed note (42).
- Added support for Hi Hat Pedal Threshold. (See
above). By default, this option is disabled and can only be enabled or adjusted
by using the software.
- Added kick pedal note duration adjustment for Xbox
RB2 interface. The note duration of the kick pedal used to be hard-coded,
but can now be adjusted by changing the Note Duration setting (see User's
Manual for details). If your Xbox RB2 controller seems to be dropping kick
notes occasionally, you can now adjust the note duration to fix this.
- Fixed double-hit issue with MIDI OUT. Some drum
kits would generate double-hits when connected to the MIDI input on a GHWT
controller -- the LX now filters out the data that causes this problem.
Release 2010.3.28 (28 March 2010)
This release contains new software, User's Manual, and
firmware for the MIDI Rocker LX with the MIDI OUT option.
- Added support for MIDI OUT Option. The software
can detect an LX with the MIDI OUT option installed and display the applicable
options.
- Added MIDI OUT option firmware. A copy of the
firmware for LX's with the MIDI OUT option installed in now included.
- Added EZ Guitar firmware. A copy of the firmware
for using the LX with a Yamaha EZ guitar is now included.
Release 2010.1.28 (28 Jan 2010)
This release contains a bug fix to the firmware for the
Wii.
- Fixed button report data on Wii. A wrong compiler
setting resulted in the BACK, START and cymbal channels not working right on
the Wii. This has been fixed.
Release 2010.1.18 (18 Jan 2010)
This release contains some new firmware and software
features and minor bug fixes. Please see the User's Guide for information on
using the MIDI Rocker LX and the software.
- Added "Quick Map Change" Feature. Hold
the navigation switch UP and then press the BACK button to switch between map 1
and map 2.
- Added "Map Swap Note". You can use the
GUI software to designate a special MIDI note to be used to switch between
maps. The LX will switch between map 1 and map 2 whenever this note is
received.
- "Guitar Hero mode" on the Wii version is
disabled. Since the Guitar Hero drums only connect to the Wii through the
Wiimote, Guitar Hero mode doesn't work on the Wii. I'm working on a way around
this in the future.
- Changed velocity threshold increment to 20. For
finer adjustment (it used to be that you could only adjust hte threshold in
increments of 25).
- The BACK, UP, DOWN and SELECT buttons now work in
Xbox mode. Pressing these buttons now is equivalent to hitting the Red,
Yellow, Blue and Green drum pads respectively.
- Added support for configuring the "Map Swap
Note".
- Added button for copying data between maps. You
can now quickly duplicate a map.
- Added Note Chart for TD-20. Displays default note
configuration for a Roland TD-20.
Release 2009.10.12 (12 Oct 2009)
This release contains some minor bug fixes to the
firmware. Please see the User's Guide for information on using the MIDI Rocker
LX and the software.
- Fixed so BACK button works in the PS3 menus
again. A change made to the firmware in V1.5 advertently made the BACK
button not work on the PS3.
- Fixed swapping of the yellow and blue cymbals outputs
on the Xbox Interface. The yellow and blue cymbal outputs were swapped in
the firmware, so a note mapped to the Yellow cymbal (ALT+CH2) would actually
activate the blue cymbal on the Xbox controller and vise-versa.
Release 2009.09.14 (14 Sept 2009)
This release contains some minor bug fixes and new
features in the software. Please see the User's Guide for information on using
the MIDI Rocker LX and the software.
- Added ability to change note duration: You can
now change the MIDI Note Duration setting on the LX directly (no need to use
the GUI software). See the updated User's Guide for details.
- Change so BACK button is like '-' on the Wii The
BACK button now functions like the '-' button on the Wii controller. You can
map a drum pad to the Red channel (CH1) for going "back" in the game
menus.
- Added Guitar Hero 5 compatiblity for the Wii The
LX now works with GH5 on the Wii -- it functions the same as a Rock Band 2
controller does in this game (meaning there are only 4 note "lanes"
used) .
- Added automatic duplicate note checking.
Hightlights any duplicated note numbers in red.
- Added hit counters to drum test display. So you
can check for "double-hits" or other issues.
- Added Map Status Display and Reminders. Helps you
to know if you've modified or saved the map.
- Changes to make it easier to type in note
numbers. You no longer have to select number with the mouse in order to
edit value -- just type it in.
- Changes to default MIDI Note Duration: Based on
feedback and testing, we adjusted the default duration to 30ms for the
Playstation and Wii, and 50ms for the Xbox interface. When you update the
firmware, it will reset the duration to this default value.
- Changes to default note mappings: Added
additional notes to Map 1 to work with more drum sets, and added notes to Map 2
to work with Guitar Hero World Tour. When you update the firmware, these
note maps get loaded by default. You can can still use the MIDI Rocker LX
or the GUI software to change the note mappings if needed.
- Fixed CH2 "blink" bug: Fixed so the CH2
light doesn't blink when hitting a note mapped to the Orange cymbal (in Guitar
Hero mode only) .
- Fixed M1,M2 LED bug: Fixed so the M1/M2 lights
are set properly if you exit program mode while adjusting the note velocity
threshold.
- Added note chart for HD-1 drums.
- New "Drum Test" Feature: You can now
test out your mappings and drum set without having to hook it all up to the
game console and see the results in real-time.
- Added error logging: Any software errors are now
put in a log file and you will be given the chance to email the log to
me.
Release 2009.3.14 (14 March 2009)
The second firmware release for the LX, this release
contains some bug fixes to the firmware and a new feature in the software.
Please see the User's Guide for information on using the MIDI Rocker LX and the
software.
- Bug Fix to NAV RIGHT button: Pushing the
navigation button to the right to navigate the XMB menus works again.
- Bug Fix to START button: Pressing the START
button to pause/resume a game works again.
- New "Note Chart" Feature: There are now
multiple note charts available for several different drum sets, as well as a
user-editable chart.
Release 2009.3.9 (9 March 2009)
The second firmware release for the LX, this release
contains some minor enhancements to the firmware and major changes to the
software. Please see the User's Guide for information on using the MIDI Rocker
LX and the software.
- Change to BACK button: When held down in
normal mode (note in Program mode), the BACK button now functions like the
"PS" button on a PlayStation controller. Pressing the button (without
holding it down) functions just like before. You no longer have to press and
hold both the SELECT and the START button to activate the "PS"
button.
- Change to SELECT button: Pressing down on the
navigation button is now equivalent to hitting the green drum. This makes
navigating the menus in the game easier. If you hold down the button, it
is like pressing the SELECT button on the controller.
- New "Sorting" Feature: If you hold the
navigation button to the LEFT, it is like pressing and holding down the kick
pedal in Rock Band. This is useful for accessing the "song sorting"
menu when choosing a song in the game. If you move the navigation button to the
right, or press any other button, or press the kick pedal, then this mode is
deactivated.
- New "Map Tab" Feature: Tabs are now
present for each of the available note maps so that you can easily switch
between maps and view the contents.
- Change to Note Map File Format: When you save or
recall a note map to/from a file, BOTH maps are now saved/recalled at the same
time. If you recall a file that was saved using a previous version of the
software, it will contain only a single map and will be loaded into the
currently displayed map tab.
- Change to MIDI Note Logging: The MIDI log data is
now displayed in a grid format for easier viewing. The data file format has
been changed to be CSV (comma-separated-values) and can be read into most
spreadsheet programs or word processors.
