Installing a Strum Fix in a solid-wood body guitar
These instructions are for installing a Strum Fix Plus (any version) in a solid-wood body Rock Band Stratocasters using the special “WFA” adapter. Installing a Strum Fix in a wooden strat is similar to the normal installation, except the wiring is a little different as there are just 3 wires that go to the strummer — a strum up, strum down, and a “common”. For this reason, an extra jumper wire (included with the WFA adapter) needs to be installed between the up and down switches, as shown here:
The specific installation process for these guitars follows the general overall procedure for a normal guitar, but these guitars are built quite differently and the biggest challenge is taking them apart. They usually use a lot of glue, but the glue can be pried off, and if you warm up the glue with a hair dryer it should peel off quite easily. I recommend that you take lots of pictures during the process to help make sure you put it back together properly.
One the guitar body is opened up, you can install the Strum Fix using the special adapter as shown below:
