Tariff Impacts on Pricing and Availability

Date: May 9, 2025
Because of the tariff/tax on imported products our costs are increasing substantially. PCBs are the core of most of our products and the cost of those has more than doubled recently because of the new taxes, so we will have no choice but to raise prices soon. I do not know what those price increases will be yet, since based on recent comments from Trump the tax rates are about to change again and we won’t know for sure what we have to pay until the parts go thru Customs.

Luckily we did stock up on a lot of parts earlier in the year, but those stocks will run out soon.

I’ve gotten quotes from US PCB board makers but they are still substantially more expensive and often are not able to offer the same quality or turnaround time. I have long-term relationships with several board houses in China and they’ve given me nothing but excellent products and support - Byte Arts would not exist today without them.

I’ll post updates here as I learn more. In the short term there may be shortages of some products are we try to deal with the tariff impacts.
