July/August Update

Where did the summer go? Sorry to not post an update in a while — it’s not because nothing is happening, but quite the opposite. I’m reminded of the mantra I learned when taking flying lessons: “first aviate, then navigate, and then communicate” — basically reminding you of the order in which to worry about things — first keep things under control, then figure out where you are going, and then communicate your intentions to others. The same thing applies to engineering and I’ve been doing a lot of “aviating” (building and testing) and “navigating” (production planning) lately, but not much “communicating”.

OFMG Guitar Update

TLDR: we are in the pre-production phase, building and testing prototypes, and getting ready to start production. There are a lot of little details still left to take care of, but we are getting closer each day. Once we are confident in our ability to deliver the product on time we’ll start taking pre-orders. Pricing is still being worked out and I’ll be updating the OFMG page shortly with more details.

New Product: Foot Button to Activate Overdrive

The new OFMG guitar has a 3.5mm port for plugging in a external switch to activate overdrive, and while using a Rock Band drum pedal for this feature works, while testing the OFMG I realized that we really needed a pedal that was more robust and easier to use, so we decided to make our own pedal. It’s round so it doesn’t matter which direction you press it from, making it easier to activate, and it can withstand a person standing on it, so it shouldn’t ever break in normal use.
The new pedal will work with any Rock Band guitar that has the 3.5mm pedal port (as well as with the OFMG of course).
We are just doing final testing and will be releasing the pedal in a few days.

Website Update

As we prepare to release the new guitar, we need to do a long-overdue overhaul of our website, so over the next week or so the site may be temporarily unavailable for placing orders as we rework the site. The goal of the update is to make things easier to find, add FAQs and troubleshooting pages.
