Sept/Oct Update

It’s been a super-busy time here at Byte Arts as we work to release the new guitar. Sorry I haven’t been very good about posting updates, but if you want more please check out our Discord (https://discord.gg/a3kUDD5xTQ) as I do post updates there fairly often.

OFMG Guitar Status Update

The OFMG guitar, our custom guitar design is now DONE and FROZEN! The CAD models have been validated by printing multiple copes and assembling them, checking that everything prints properly, all the screws fit, and it all goes together and works properly. Files are all under version control, part numbers have been assigned and we’re organizing inventory, so we are close to going into production!

But, I’m not ready to announce an official release date yet — there are still some potential supply chain issues and tariffs that could delay us, but I think we’ll be able to work around those for now and so I expect to make the announcement in the next week or so once we’ve nailed those down.

Website Upgrade

In conjunction with the release of the guitar we’ll be rolling out an improved website with more information and a better organization, not just for the guitar but also for all our products. I’m working to add more troubleshooting and compatibility information, and have a central place to download files for 3D printing parts.

New Product: Overdrive Pedal

Like a lot of people, I never liked the “tilt to activate overdrive” feature on any of the Rock Band guitars — when it worked it was fine, but it’s always thrown me off my game to have to tilt or shake the guitar to get it to activate. Some guitars (including our OFMG guitar) have 3.5mm ports that accept a foot pedal for overdrive activation — just tap your foot on the pedal. While most people use the kick drum pedal from a Rock Band drum set for this, those pedals are hard to find and tend to break, so I designed my own. Find out more here: Overdrive Pedal

Happy Strumming!
