For use with guitars that have 3.5mm jack for a foot pedal used to activate “overdrive” or “star power”. Instead of relying on flaky tilt sensors or fumbling to press a button, just tap your foot on this button to activate.

Many Rock Band guitars have a 3.5mm port for plugging in a foot-activated switch that can be used to activate “overdrive” or “star power”. Many players prefer this to having to tilt the guitar or fumble to find the button to activate overdrive. Originally the port was designed to plug in a Rock Band drum pedal to be used for overdrive activation, but those pedals were designed for playing the kick drum on a drum kit, not for activating overdrive on a guitar and so were too hard to press and were prone to breaking.
This foot pedal switch was designed from the ground up (literally) for use with a Rock Band (or compatible) guitar.
